About The Mitts Co.
The Mitts Co. is an independent apparel brand offering comfortable, versatile clothing and accessories for adults and youth.
But the reason we started Mitts has very little to do with clothing.
We love hockey. Not only the game played between the boards, but the life that grows around it.
The early mornings. The long drives. The sticks leaning by the front door. Water bottles drying beside the sink. Gear hanging in the garage. Coffee on the way to the rink. Mini sticks in hotel hallways. The quiet ride home after a tough game and the loud one after a great weekend.
We love the work, too.
The empty rink. The bucket of pucks. The driveway after dark. The extra rep. The kid who wants to stay five more minutes. The hours nobody sees and the small improvements that, over time, become something bigger.
And maybe most of all, we love what all of that effort gives us.
Not just wins or goals or trophies.
Moments.
A game puck sitting on the kitchen counter. A team crowded into a diner after a tournament. A younger sibling waiting at home to hear what happened. A medal hanging from the rearview mirror. A kid falling asleep in the backseat. A parent carrying two hockey bags across a parking lot while the kids walk beside them laughing.
The things that seem ordinary while they're happening and somehow become the things we remember.
That's the world Mitts was created to celebrate.
Our point of view is simple: we don't think hockey belongs only to the player on the ice. It belongs to the parents, siblings, coaches, teammates, friends and families who build a life around it. The game might happen at the rink, but hockey has a way of following you home.
It ends up in your garage, your basement, your car, your weekends, your friendships and eventually your memories.
Hockey Lives Here.
That's more than a line to us. It's an observation.
We also believe that getting better at anything worthwhile requires something from you. There are no shortcuts around the early mornings, the repetitions, the disappointments or the decision to try again.
Earn Your Ice.
Not because everyone needs to be the best player on the rink, but because there is something valuable in learning to work for the things that matter to you.
And we believe that work deserves something in return.
Not necessarily a championship.
Something better.
Effort Deserves Moments Worth Remembering.
Those three ideas are at the heart of Mitts: the life, the work and the moments that make the work worthwhile.
They're also why we approach the brand a little differently.
We aren't interested in making hockey look bigger, louder or more dramatic than it already is. Most of the time, we think the best stories are the ones already happening.
So we try to observe them.
To notice the forgotten stick in the driveway. The steam rising from a coffee cup against the rink glass. The hockey bag beside the suitcases before a tournament weekend. The parent tying a skate. The garage after practice.
Our hope is that someone who has lived this life sees something we've made and thinks:
I know that feeling.
That's our house.
We've done that.
Because Mitts isn't meant to stand in front of hockey.
We want to live quietly inside it.
The clothing is simply part of that world: comfortable pieces made to be worn to the rink, in the driveway, on the road, around town and everywhere else hockey life takes you. Not costumes. Not uniforms. Just things that belong.
We started The Mitts Co. because this life means something to us.
We're documenting it because we think it means something to a lot of other people, too.
And we're making clothing for the people who recognize themselves in it.
